On Thursday, March 11th join people
of faith and conscience all around the world in kicking off
organizing for a faith-climate day of action, all at the grassroots,
for Sacred People, Sacred Earth.
Sacred People, Sacred Earth is
organized by GreenFaith and the
Parliament of the World's
Religions is proud to join communities and organizations
around the world in serving as a co-sponsor.
Together we are a global, multi-faith, environmental
alliance. We stand for equality and against injustice. We believe in
reverence and compassion for all life. We motivate people of faith to
lead by example. We call upon our leaders to safeguard our future.

Acting on the network's ten demands,
grassroots faith activists are calling for climate justice. Following
globally sensitive COVID-safe guidelines, we’re gathering in small,
socially-distanced groups or virtually to activate our shared moral power
for climate justice.
Here are some tips for deciding what your action should
be:
- Choose one of the ten demands in the Sacred People, Sacred Earth statement
that’s relevant to your community. For example, Australian religious
communities are calling on their Prime Minister and Parliament to
end new fossil fuel development.
- Choose a local action to address your chosen issue. For example, faith communities in the U.S. are
calling on President Biden to stop the Line 3 pipeline and build
back fossil free.
- Whether ringing a bell, blowing the shofar or
conch shell, chanting, or meditating, be sure to post a photo online
holding your sign with the #Faiths4Climate hashtag. Include your
location, name of your religious or spiritual community, and your
demand. You’ll find social media
and other communications resources in this guide. You can
also join the Sacred People, Sacred
Earth Facebook group, where you can connect with other
organizers, get live updates on the day of action, and upload your
photos and videos on 11 March!
Want to take action from
home? Join the global day of action in 3 easy steps:
1. Make a sign with the person, government agency,
policy, or elected official that you’re targeting and the action you want
from them, e.g. President Biden: Stop Fossil Fuels or Minister of
Environment: Clean Up Our Waterways
2. Hold the sign in front of your home and take a
photo with yourself, friends, and/or family.
3. Post the photo on your social media with the
hashtags #Faiths4Climate
and #SacredPeopleSacredEarth and tag @greenfaithworld (Twitter and
Instagram) or @greenfaith (Facebook). In your post, say where you’re
located in the world. If you don’t know how to post on social media, send
your photo to info@greenfaith.org. CHECK OUT THE WEB SITE HOSTED BY "PARLIAMENT OF THE WORLD'S RELIGIONS": https://greenfaith.org/take-action/sacred-people-sacred-earth/
